If you are an apprentice in a skilled trade e.g. plumbing, electrical or joinery, Tameside Council can offer you a grant worth up to £1,000 which can be used to purchase tools and equipment to support you with completing your apprenticeship! As a business looking to recruit an apprentice, under the new apprenticeship levy guidelines, you can get help from the Government to pay for apprenticeship training. Businesses with a wage bill under £3m will only need to pay 10% of the apprenticeship course. *The Levy does not cover the salary for your apprentice(s). Find out more here.

Tameside Business Grant

Tameside Council offer a grant of £1500 to local employers which create an apprenticeship as part of the accredited scheme. The aim is to incentivise and support small businesses to recruit individuals aged 16 to 24 into employment through an apprenticeship programme. A business would only be eligible when recruiting an apprentice who is a resident of Tameside. Find out how to register for the Tameside Business Grant.

Business Grants

Tameside Youth Employment Scheme (Tameside YES)

Tameside Council are looking for local businesses to provide 6 month work placements, or 12 month apprenticeship opportunities, for young people in Tameside aged 16-24. In return, the Council will reimburse 6 months of the young person’s salary!
