Jobs Fair

On the 21st September there will be a wide range of employment and training opportunities available for anyone attending the Tameside Jobs Fair to find out about and apply for on the day.  IKEA, Robertson Construction, and the Village Hotel will be there to talk about their current vacancies alongside Tameside MBC, Dunelm, Screwfix, Betfred, G4S, Able Care and Support Services, Reed, Task Rabbit and many more.

If you spot a role you want to aim for in the future, or need some assistance applying for, support is on hand from local training and skills providers such as Tameside ACE, Google Garage and the National Careers Service.

Hosted by Jigsaw Homes, in partnership with JobcentrePlus and the Tameside MBC Employment & Skills team, the event will be a fantastic opportunity for everyone in the borough, whether you are looking for your first job, a return to work or your next career step.  The Jigsaw Homes building (formerly New Charter) is across the road from IKEA and only a couple of minutes’ walk from the tram and bus stations.

Tameside Job Fair is open to all Tameside residents, no matter their age, and there’s no need to book – just turn up on the day. With over 750 people expected to attend, it will be a great opportunity to find work and training.

In addition to more than 200 live job vacancies, the event will give jobseekers the chance to speak to employers about what it’s like to work for them, ask about what each job really involves, discuss future career prospects, access information and also sign up for further training and adult learning courses.

The employers attending cover multiple employment sectors, including retail, construction, hospitality, health and social care, security and administration showcasing the wide range of opportunities that are available within Tameside.

Cllr Leanne Feeley, Tameside Council Executive Member for Lifelong Learning, said: “Our previous Tameside Job Fairs have been extremely successful, with plenty of people able to find permanent employment or access high quality training opportunities.

“There are some fantastic job opportunities available from our employers in Tameside and we are delighted to continue partnering with them at this year’s event.”

Anyone planning to attend should bring plenty of copies of their CV and to dress as you would for a job interview, it always helps to make a good first impression.  Staff from the TMBC Employment & Skills team, Jobcentre Plus and Jigsaw Homes will be there to welcome you, and help you find the employers you want to speak to.  Look out for anyone in a yellow t-shirt - they look forward to meeting you and to help you #endyouryearwithanewcareer !

Tameside Jobs Fair is being held at Jigsaw Homes Group, Cavendish 249, Cavendish Street, Ashton, OL6 7AT, on Friday, September 21 from 11am to 2pm.
